There are many articles claiming the 5 benefits of exercise, but I didn’t want to just give you a list. I wanted to speak about benefits that I have personally experienced.
1 …More energy
The first of the 5 benefits of exercuse has to be more energy. I always feel energised after a good session in the gym especially when it’s in the morning before work. I find that once I have finished and have hopped out of the shower I get a second wind of energy which lasts throughout the day. I always feel like my brain is more active and alert too. Regular exercise really does boost my energy levels.
2 …Weight Control
Controlling weight whether that’s weight loss or gain, I adjust accordingly depending on what my current goals are. Whether I’m in a calorie surplus and liftin heavy to build muscle or calorie deficit the exercise I do can be adjusted to meet that goal. It always good to bear in mind that nutrition is key.
…Improved cardiovascular health
Since I’ve starting spin classes I have found that I am not getting out of breath as often as I would have and climbing those stairs at work gets easier each week. I didn’t notice at first but with each class I found it getting easier and easier.
I don’t know about you, but my mood is always lifted after a good workout. In a bad mood…workout. Down in the dumps…workout. Feeling happy…workout. Annoying? I know right! But its so true even on days when I really really don’t feel like it I feel so much better afterwards. And that hour of not concentrating on my mood and focussing on killing my workout always puts me in a great frame of mind. I find exercise also have helped me manage my anxiety (you can read about this here).
And for the final example of the benefits of exercise – better sleep, I can vouch for this, days when I have exercised I sleep easy almost like a baby. I don’t find it hard to relax once I’m in the bed and its almost like my body couldn’t wait to hop into bed and get some of that good sleep. However with that being said I try not to exercise too late before bed because that then seems to have the opposite effect on me and I am too alert to sleep.
