I started a brand new Instagram account on 13 December 2018. I started the account with zero followers and didn’t use my old account to promote my new one.
My instagram is https://www.instagram.com/jaydeesaysfitness/
I set myself a goal this year to grow my instagram account – my previous one was used for a number of things and the growth stagnated at 2000 followers. I decided to start all over.
As of 18 January 2019 I am at 736 followers – this tends to fluctuate daily due to others follow/unfollows and deleted accounts.
Tips which I have found helped to grow my account
Find your Niche
One of the mistakes I have made in the past is not sticking to one niche which confused my audience. So this time I stuck to one niche so people knew what to expect when following my account.
I started off posting 2/3 times a day morning, lunchtime and early evening. The way I saw it was the three posts a day were three chances for people to discover my account.
I tried to use Hashtags which were relevant to my account. This would help people who are interested in posts in a similar niche to find my account.
Engaging with others
I tried to findothers in the same niche and engage genuinely with their accounts. It doesn’t always get them to engage with you but I did find the more I commented on others posts the more they would engage with mine and sometimes follow me.
Post quality content
I try to post quality content – I’m sure nobody wants to see blurry grainy pictures. I take time to write my captions so that these can be engaged with in addition to the photograph.
*I admit I don’t do these tips consistently everyday and I feel that my account would have grown a lot more if I had.
